Not necessarily, FFrog. Your info packet may be of use in the future. For now, try walking around the mental wall they have built, instead of running into it. If they are still on friendly or speaking terms with you, you could mention that you have been studying or saw a program on the tactics of 'evil cults', how they recruit, and retain people. Assure them you are not speaking bout their group. After all, they have the Truth, right? Moonies, Scientologists, even Amway use these tactics. Steve Hassan has a great book called Releasing the Bonds, that details how cults recruit, program and retain members. I think we are all familliar with the results. I got a great little pamphlet from Bruce Laughton (aka The Exorcist) that describes the steps and tactics used by any High Control Group. Write to Answers, Inc. PO Box 522, Hopkins MN 55343 for a copy. It may take longer, and be less satisfying at first than a head on confrontation, but i may get them thinking "am I in a cult?"

Jeff, When I was studying to be a witless, I wrote a letter to my Archdiocese renouncing my Catholic Baptism. Am I really unbaptized, and if I wanted to re-up with the Church, would I have to re-baptize? Or would they consider my renunciation as just a moral hiccup? Or would I be considered as 'a man without a country'? thanks

Unique Stupidity
by Gill inas far as i'm aware, no other apocalytic group, in which i include seventh day adventists, born again christians, mormons etc cause as much controversys as the jw's.
i hadn't even realised that born again christians were apocalyptic until i was told by one that 'the end was coming' this week and the tsunami was an act of god to warn us.. so is it just shunning and harrassing people from door to door that makes the jws different?
or could it be their unique form of stupidity?

On radio, classical, Dvorak especial favorite. CDs, mostly jam, like live grateful dead, moe. ozark mountain daredevils, left over salmon (poly ethnic cajun slamgrass), stuff by groups that allow and encourage tapers (free distribution). Jazz, Blues, english punk, anything that gets this old bod movin and groovin. Too many influences to mention. It's all good!

As one marked as spiritually weak, i was in fear of upsetting my sanctimonius husband. He was more omnipotent to me than a capricious and vengefull deity, and had the power to make my life a living hell. Armageddon? I used to think 'bring it on'.

Public talk over time
by ballistic inan old age bethelite elder gives a special public talk at a kingdom hall and rambles on for some time.
after two hours, he mumbles, "sorry if i have gone over-time but i left my watch at home.
" an over-zealous ministerial servant in the front row stands up and says, "it's ok, there's a calendar behind you!

I know alcoholism is not funny, and I mean no disrespect to any who may suffer (it runs in my family, and I have my own ism). But this is too funny (especially the tag line) not to share!

It amazes me that there has been no class action lawsuit against the tower. Surely it is as defective and destructive as tobacco. And in these cases, why isn't RICO the anti-racketeering laws invoked?
